MALT-y Privacy Policy

Effective 7 September 2026 · iPhone app

There is no affiliation, endorsement, or collaboration with surgical education and training in Australia and New Zealand.

MALT-y is an independent documentation aid for clinicians. It is not affiliated with RACS or the Morbidity Audit and Logbook Tool. It does not diagnose or treat and is not a medical device.

Consent

We do not collect data until you choose to create an account, Sign in with Apple, grant Camera or Photos permission, or send an email yourself. Those steps are optional and use Apple’s permission sheets or a form you fill in. You can withdraw Camera or Photos permission in iPhone Settings, delete your local account in the app, and cancel a subscription in Apple ID settings.

What we collect

MALT-y does not collect, store, or sell your data. There is no advertising and no tracking of how you use the app. We do not collect IP addresses, Advertising Identifier, location, HealthKit data, or Face Data. We do not collect or store biometric data. We do not use a permanent device identifier to identify you or this iPhone. We do not sell user data.

The only status we rely on is whether your monthly subscription is active or inactive. Apple processes that subscription through In-App Purchase. MALT-y never sees or stores your card details. Paid features are unlocked only through Apple In-App Purchase.

Permissions

  • Camera — used only after you allow it, to photograph a printed patient or theatre label. iOS shows the system Camera prompt (Allow Once / Allow While Using / Don’t Allow, as provided by iOS).
  • Photos (Camera Roll) — used only after you allow it, to pick an existing photo of a printed label. iOS shows the system Photos prompt (Select Photos / Allow Access to All Photos / Don’t Allow).

Photographs are read on this iPhone with Apple Vision. They are not saved in MALT-y and are not uploaded.

Sharing

We do not share user data with analytics, advertising, or other third-party SDKs. Apple processes In-App Purchase and Sign in with Apple under Apple’s terms. If you send a case or Contact us email, that content goes to the address you choose (your destination email, or info@surgicalexams.com for support).

Retention and deletion

On-device account details, drafts, and the last five sent emails stay until you delete them in Settings, delete the account, or remove the app. We do not keep a copy on our servers. Because we do not hold your data on our servers, a MALT-y server breach of your case data cannot occur.

What stays on this iPhone

A local account (the name or email you typed, or Sign in with Apple) so the app can open on this device. Training placement you choose. Optional unsent drafts and the last five sent emails, so you can resend from this iPhone. Files on this iPhone use Apple’s Data Protection. Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets only open the camera. They do not show case details.

Payments

The monthly subscription is an auto-renewable In-App Purchase billed to your Apple ID. Cancel anytime in Apple ID subscription settings. There is no lock-in period.

Children

MALT-y is for clinicians and authorised staff, not for children.
